Speaking to NewsDay yesterday, Juru’s manager Gift Benjamin said with the effort they put in the project they were confident that it will have a positive impact to the society.

“The nation is experiencing a sad chapter where its future generations — children — are subjected to traumatic experiences through child abuse and in this album we are calling for a child abuse-free society for our future leaders,” he said.

“A lot needs to be done to protect the girl-child. She must not be overlooked, but must also be empowered in the same way the boy-child is empowered, that is the main message on this album.”

Benjamin said the album also encourages children to honour their parents.

He said they have already started working on scripts for the videos for this latest album as they want the message to reach wide audience for a cause.

Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu and Andy Muridzo will be guest artistes at the launch that is expected to be graced by musicians from across genres.

The album, which is Juru’s eight studio production, was recorded at Trutone Studios and carries six tracks, Ndine Munyama, Baba Vakudzi, Vabereki Vangu, Ndasunungurwa, Xenophobia and title track Girl Child.

Benjamin said fans can get the album at Fashion Discount Record Bar located at corner Robert Mugabe Road and Inez Terez and Sunshine Records Bar at Gulf Complex in Harare.
