Zimbabwe College of Music Mbira queen Hope Masike this afternoon graduates with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Degree after she successfully completed her studies with Africa University in partnership with Zimbabwe College of Music.

The mbira maestro will be capped together with over 100 music students who are also to be conferred Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Ethnomusicology Degrees, National and Advanced National Certificates in Music at Zimbabwe College of Music in Harare.

Reps Theatre

Dance Avenue presents The Lion King Story — the dance that first appeared at St John’s Prep and Chisipite Junior — tonight and tomorrow night at Reps Theatre in Harare Pariah State, Avondale

One of the oldest reggae bands in the country, Transit Crew, tonight entertains patrons at Pariah State located at Avondale Shopping Centre. The group to date has nurtured great reggae vocalists in the mould of Emmanuel “Mannex” Motsi, Mike “Mic Inity” Madamombe, Jeffrey Sithole and Tinashe “Cello Culture” Gamure.

Traveller Tavern

Sounds of Motherland front-man Progress Chipfumo and rising musician Andy Muridzo on Sunday share the stage at Traveller Tavern in the high-density suburb of Dzivaresekwa. Also to provide cover for the Cheuka hit-maker are popular dancer Beverly Sibanda and Shepherd Chinyani.

Dandaro Inn

Jazz sensation Victor Kunonga and his Peace Band tonight share the stage with Alexio Kawara as they take turns to entertain guests at Dandaro Inn located inside Harare Showgrounds. The show dubbed, The African Night, is meant to celebrate African music and culture.

Borrowdale Country Manor

Award-winning United States of America-based in Zimbabwean author Miriam Shumba on Sunday launches her Christian fiction book titled Chasing at Borrowdale Country Manor in Harare. After the launch in Zimbabwe, Shumba will head to South Africa on July 29 for the book signing ceremony to be hosted by Skoombs Theatre of Books. Other books under Shumba’s sleeve are That Which Has Horns and Show Me The Sun.

Sunset Night Club

Sungura musician Romeo Gasa and his Extra Valembe band tonight entertain revellers at Sunset Night Club located in Kuwadzana. Affectionately known as Simbi Hombe, Gasa stormed into the music mainstream after winning the 2007 Chibuku Road to Fame top prize.

Newly-opened home of jazz, Jazz 24/7 located at corner Sam Nujoma Street and Robson Manyika Avenue in Harare, tonight hosts jazz sensation Jean Masters supported by Benjamin Chidewe

CSC Social Club, Chinhoyi

Sungura musician Peter “Young Ingwe” Moyo and his Utakataka Express band start their weekend shows tonight with a performance at CSC Social Club in Chinhoyi supported by Tedious Matsito and his Ngwenya Brothers. They return to Harare tomorrow to entertain revellers at City Sports Bar where they will share the stage with King Omale and his The MC Arrow before wrapping up their weekend programme on Sunday with a performance at Zebra Gardens in Mbare.

Mpambadzire Night Club, Gweru

Popular dancer Beverly Sibanda and the Sexy Angels start their weekend shows tonight with a performance at Mpambadzire Night Club in Gweru. Tomorrow they travel to Mashonaland Central for a performance at Red Label Night Club in Bindura before returning to Harare on Sunday to entertain revellers at Holly’s Hotel.

Hokonya Primary School, Chivhu

Multi-award winning musician Jah Prayzah today headlines the inaugural Alfred Dondo Sports Day in Chivhu where he will share the stage with rising musician Sam Dondo.

The Kumbumura Mhute and Dyara Munamato hitmakers are known for top-notch performances on any given day that has seen them doing well in their different careers. Apart from the entertainment extravaganza, six schools will lock horns in two sporting disciplines, soccer and volleyball in the Alfred Dondo Foundation Tournament.

The Platinum Bar, Mutare

Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu and Orchestra Dendera Kings start their weekend shows tonight with a performance at The Platinum Bar, formerly Pick N Save. Tomorrow they will be in Marondera as they share the stage with Tendai Dembo at the Sons of Legends Concert at Legends Sports Diner located in Nyameni suburb. Resident wheel spinner DJ Ninja will be rocking it on the turntables. They return to Harare on Sunday to entertain merrymakers at Club Tabula in Southlea Park.

Club Mandisa, Mutare Harare-based dancer Wasu and her Syndicate Girls tonight travel to Mutare for a performance at a mouth-watering two-day dance feast set for Club Mandisa. Fotress@88 New Ambassador Hotel

Harare’s new entertainment hot spot will today host Progress Chipfumo and Andy Muridzo. Set on the rooftop of the second floor of the hotel, appropriately named “The Breeze at the Top”, it has become home to Harare’s music and arts seekers.
