STANBIC Bank Zimbabwe has donated a borehole, and office furniture and equipment to a hospital and police respectively as it steps up commitment to serving the community.

The bank recently donated a borehole to St Albert’s Mission Hospital in Centenary/Muzarabani and office furniture and equipment to Mbare and Southerton police stations.
The borehole will not only service the mission hospital, but the surrounding community which includes secondary and primary schools while the computers, desks and chairs donated to police would prop up the operations of the police force.
Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe public relations and communications manager Sidney Kazhanje said the borehole was part of a wider and comprehensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy by the financial services institution to meet the needs of the communities in which it operates in.
Kazhanje said Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe’s CSR strategy spanned a wide spectrum of areas such as health and sanitation, education, sports, the arts as well as socially challenged members of society such as orphans and the elderly.
On the donation to the police, Kazhanje said the bank recognised the importance of policing and hence chose to donate office furniture and in particular computers for ease of work in response to the institution’s request.

“As a bank we feel obliged to give a helping hand to assist with the important role the police play in protecting the members of the society . . . We are cognisant of the fact that police work involves storage, processing and retrieval of information hence the computers,” Kazhanje said.
This will enable the police to improve the turnaround time on cases and thereby, enhance their efficiencies. We are also aware that office furniture not only gives comfort while working but also enhances the image.”
