In what could be a move to deal with the succession issue in the opposition MDC-T, party leader Morgan Tsvangirai has appointed Elias Mudzuri and Nelson Chamisa as vice presidents of the opposition.

The two new appointees join the party’s first vice-president Thokozani Khupe to leave the party with three lieutenants to Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai was recently diagnosed with cancer of the colon, an ailment that is likely to affect his role as party leader as the party gears for the land mark 2018 elections.

The MDC-T leader arrived yesterday from South Africa where he is receiving treatment. A legion of his supporters thronged the streets of Harare city to welcome him amid a heavy police presence.
