Mawoyo had been on the sidelines for a long time owing to injuries, but is back pushing for a place in the team that will face the Black Caps in a two-Test series to be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Bowler Shingi Masakadza is also back on the spotlight after he was included in the squad and he will be hoping to work his way back into the national side, having been ignored for over a year now.

Zimbabwe last played Test cricket in 2015 when they took on Bangladesh.

The other players that made the cut for the South Africa A four-day match include bowlers Richard Muzhange, Natsai Mushangwe and John Nyumbu.

There was no place for Forster Mutizwa and Brian Vitori.
