Highlanders confirmed that Kangwa, who has hit top form, has been invited for trials at an unnamed club, but Bosso will only be able to release the player during the mid-season break.

Club chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede yesterday confirmed that an agent was organising a deal for Kangwa in Tanzania, but he has to attend trial first.

“There is a club in Tanzania that is interested in Kangwa. Regrettably, the negotiations were being done behind our back by an agent based in Harare,” Gumede said.

“I had a talk with the player yesterday and he confirms that there is an interest in him from Tanzania. We wish him good luck. We have always said we won’t stand in the way of any player who may wish to go and improve himself.”

However, the Bosso boss said Kangwa was also not even aware of the club that was pursing him.

“I don’t even know the club and he (Kangwa) too was saying he didn’t know. Like I said it was being arranged behind our back by some agent in Harare and they wanted him for trials this weekend, but we are deep in our league and we would be uncomfortable to release him until we are in mid-season,” Gumede said.

There seem to be a sudden interest in Zimbabwean footballers in East Africa with former FC Platinum players Donald Ngoma and Thabani Kamusoko doing well at Young Africans.

Highlanders take on Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Chicken Inn striker Obadiah Tarumbwa had a brief stint with Kenya’s Sofapaka.

Kangwa extended his stay at Highlanders to until the end of the year and has been coach Erol Akbay main man, leading the scorers’ chart with six goals in 11 outings.

Bosso has this year lost striker Knox Mutizwa, who travels to South Africa tomorrow to join his new club Bidvest Wits.

Highlanders are currently the log leaders with 26 points two more than their nearest rivals Caps United.

Bosso are looking to win their first league title in a decade.

Meanwhile, Highlanders will on Sunday hold an extra ordinary general meeting with the main agenda likely to be the discussion on the club’s intended restructuring exercise and constitutional reforms.
