The Mugove hitmaker said the 11-track album would then be officially launched in Harare’s central business district a day after the pre-launch.

The launch will be graced by sungura king Alick Macheso and dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu.

“Our pre-launch concert will be graced by several musicians, among them sungura maestro Alick Macheso and dendera ace Sulumani Chimbetu. The concert will start at 7pm and revellers are expected to dance the night away until the following morning,” Zhakata said.

VIP tickets will be going for $10, while ordinary tickets will be pegged at $5.

The legendary musician said his forthcoming project would be his best to date.

“I have catered for all tastes in this forthcoming album after some of our fans have been asking us to revert to the old fast beat that took Zora music to its dizzy heights in the 1990s,” he said.

“We have responded to them by bringing back the old beat, the current beat and creating new material altogether that will impress our old, current and potential followers.”

Zhakata, who is now in pastoral training at the United Family International Church, has remained one of the country’s best-ever performers fronting the Zimbabwe All Stars Band.

The musician has released a string of albums over the years, including Yarira Mhere (1990), Maruva Enyika (1994), Nhamo Dzenyika (1995), Nzombe Huru (1996), Vagoni Vebasa (1997), Ndingaite Sei? (1998), Pakuyambuka (1999), Kumera Kwezora (2000), Mubikira (2001), Hodho (2003), Udza Vamwe (2004), Tine Vimbo (2006) and Gotwe in 2012.

He first hogged the limelight as part of Maungwe Brothers alongside the late Thomas Makion with the song, Tungidza Gwenya from the album Yarira Mhere.
