Chicken Inn are likely to sign the two former Democratic Republic of Congo champions TP Mazembe and Monomotapa forwards to bolster their attack with the imminent departure of Michelle Katsvairo and Edmore Chirambadare to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Although Gumbo would not confirm the two’s presence at the Gamecocks, Nyandoro and Samakweri started training with Chicken Inn on Tuesday and played in a practice match against Southern Region Soccer League side Bosso 90 at White City Stadium on Wednesday. Samakweri was on target in Chicken Inn’s 3-1 win over Bosso 90.

“The transfer window is about to open and I am trying to build my squad. Players are free to come and try their luck and they are open to assessment,” Gumbo said. “I cannot confirm if those two players (Nyandoro and Samakweri) are here, but I have three or four other players that are coming.”

The two trained with Dynamos for a couple of weeks, but issues of reverse clearance and the players’ financial demands scuppered any deal.

Chicken Inn secretary Tavengwa Hara would also not confirm Nyandoro and Samakweri’s presence at the club.

“We are waiting to be apprised by the coach on the players that he wants. There are several players that are coming as the transfer window approaches. We will be meeting with the coach so that he can tell us which players we can talk to,” he said.

The league champions are likely to lose a number of players with Katsvairo and Chirambadare close to clinching deals at Kaizer Chiefs, while skipper Danny Phiri, Tafadzwa Kutinyu and Moses Demera had trials at Golden Arrows also in South Africa. Sources have also said goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze and defender Passmore Bernard could be joining coach Antipas at South African First National Division side AmaZulu.

Chicken Inn’s league match against Hwange has been postponed since they have four players out in Namibia with the national team for the Cosafa tournament.
