Macheso has since “adopted” Faheem following the death of his father Daiton last year and was travelling with him around the country as a curtain raiser at his shows.

Faheem confirmed to NewsDay that Macheso has pledged to assist him with the recording of his first album free of charge at Alema Studios in Chitungwiza.

“The music industry is very tricky and difficult, especially when you are left with the task of leading a big band like Pengaudzoke. I would want to thank Macheso. He is like a father to me and he has done a lot for Pengaudzoke,” he said.

“We are currently practising before we get into the studio to record after he gave us a free contract to do our album at Alema Studios.”

The soft spoken 27-year-old artiste also hailed award-winning promoter Daniel Masaiti, who has offered the band slots at his two entertainment joints in Macheke and Marondera.

Macheso will this weekend return to Marondera where he will share the stage with Pengaudzoke at the Legends Sports Diner before the two artistes perform at Zebra in Mbare the following day.

“On Saturday Pengaudzoke will share the stage with Orchestra Mberikwazvo in a combination that has proved to be a crowd puller in Marondera. Pengaudzoke has improved a lot and thanks to Macheso for assisting the group in many ways,” Masaiti said.

A number of upcoming musicians including Tryson Chimbetu and the Dembo Brothers have passed through Macheso’s hands, playing as curtain raisers at his shows, before launching their careers.
