It was Mutare City’s seventh defeat from nine starts in their debut season and yesterday’s match was marked by another poor display as they failed to create meaningful chances.

The visitors showed a lot of verve right from start and it was a matter of when rather than if they would score.

It didn’t take long before Mkhululi Moyo netted from a rebound on the 12th minute, sending their few cheering fans who had travelled with the team into delirium.

The home team was forced to make a substitution after Emmanuel Meleka was injured and had to be replaced by Kudakwashe Gurure.

In the 41st minute, Bulawayo City goalkeeper Liberty Chirava’s heroics between the sticks were behind a brilliant save following a free-kick at the edge of the box.

Mutare City, however, started brightly in the second half and on the 52nd minute, Sam Msimbu was denied by a great save from Chirava.

The home team then pulled off Caleb Masocha for Steven Sibanda on the 57th minute, but the move failed to pay dividends.

Sibanda was guilty of a miss on the 87th minute after winning possession from close range Bulawayo City head coach Philani ‘’Beef’’ Ncube said they were tactically superior than their counterparts.

“It was a game of two halves and we were tactically superior. I don’t think I will ever lose again at Sakubva after winning today (yesterday). We know it was going to come with a win, but we got it and I am happy,’’ he said.

His counterpart Taku Shariwa said they conceded a silly goal, but believes his team would bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.

“We conceded a silly goal, we failed to clear a throw-in and we were heavily punished, but we are hopeful to comeback in our next fixtures,’’ he said.
