ZB Bank has launched a new bank card aimed at boosting revenue and extending its plastic money market share.

The ZB Pauri/Khonapho card comes after the launch of the financial institution’s agent banking dubbed Pauri/Khonapho last month.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the launch in Harare yesterday, ZB Financial Holdings group chief executive officer, Ron Mutandagayi, said the card, among other things, allows holders to transact, send or receive money, cash in or out, pay schools and electricity.
“It is ZimSwitch enabled, meaning you can conduct business on all automated teller machines (ATMs) and point-of-sale (POS) machines,” he said.
Mutandagayi said the card will be rolled out in urban and rural areas in order to provide financial services with a particular focus on to the unbanked population.
The bank is targeting to issue up to two million cards depending on the market response.

Potential clients seeking to use the card and its services can use any of the bank’s 65 branches and more than 6 000 agents nationwide. The maximum daily transaction is $1 000.
“We are looking at fuel cards, student cards, hospital cards, and speaking to various authorities to put toll cards into the market that allows you to pay your Zinara and toll gates so there is a lot we can do in the card space,” he said.
