Although Romain Virgo has confirmed his Zimbabwe date in a video that has gone viral on various social media platforms, Alkaline was yet to speak on the show.

NewsDay, however, has it on good authority that Alkaline was expected to touch down at Harare International Airport on September 15.

“As preparations for this year’s edition of Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe are at an advanced stage, Jamaican musician Alkaline has become the latest artist to join the line-up of performers at the concert,” the source said.

“He will share the stage with his countryman, Romain Virgo, following the payment of his binding fee.”

The Jamaicans will be supported by local acts including Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Dobba Don, Hwindi President, Kinnah, Judgement Yard, Gary B and Templeman.

The pageant — which accommodates married, curvy, tall and short participants — was focused more on facial beauty and knowledge of the Black Opal products, according to the organisers.
