Musician Tinashe Nyamukapa who came up with the idea, said the platform would accommodate all local musicians irrespective of their genres.

“Our aim is to showcase independent artistes and specifically upcoming, talented individuals who may be struggling to break into the market or have just not been heard yet. We are also creating a hub for these musicians and fans,” he said.

“To those artistes who are interested in this move, they will just come and register. If one doesn’t have a band, we will provide the band. This is a free platform for the artistes, we are providing free venue, marketing and public adddress system and other things.”

A music teacher and pianist with two albums, Nyamukapa said part of the proceeds from the Music Factory will be channelled towards Emerald Hill Children’s Home.

“The 10% of the proceeds we get from ticket sales will be channelled towards the upkeep of orphaned children at Emerald Hill Children’s Home. The home has been in existence since 1914 and a number of orphaned, neglected and abused children have been housed there and it is our duty to support the noble cause,” he said.

The Music Factory will be officially launched on Friday in Eastlea, Harare.
