The firebrand former Dynamos coach was introduced to the players by the club chairman, Alois Masepe and he immediately declared he will not settle for second best.

Chunga had been out of employment since he parted ways with Chiredzi FC and has been working with Vainona High, coaching the school’s football team.

“It’s good to be back after a long time on the side lines. I am looking forward to getting back to work. I always set the best target for myself, I want to end in a good position but second best doesn’t work for me,” he said.

Chunga, who won his maiden league title as coach with Gunners in 2009 in one of the highlights of his coaching career, said he accepted the job at Harare City because they were an organised side.

With the team 10th on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table with nine points from eight matches, Chunga is hopeful of addressing the struggles the Sunshine City Boys have endured during Taurai Mangwiro’s tenure.

“I accepted the job because Harare City are one of the most organised teams. From what I hear, the environment is conducive,” he said.

Chunga, who has also coached Caps United and Black Rhinos, said he was aware the team had not been playing well, but was ready for the challenge.

“They have not been doing well, but I will take the challenge. It’s about how you handle the pressures of life.”

The Harare City coach, renowned for nurturing youths, which dovetails with the club’s vision, said he was happy with the work done by Mangwiro and would not tinker with the squad, but try to simplify their game.

“I am happy with the work that has been done by Tau. Basically, what I am going to do is to simplify football. I will see how I will integrate the younger players into the team. But it has to be gradual because we also need results,” Bambo said.

Chunga takes over a team that has won just two matches, drawn three and lost as many.

They held Highlanders to a 1-1 draw and drew 0-0 with Chapungu in their last two matches of this campaign.
