THE body of an unidentified man, who was killed in a fatal road accident along the Kwekwe-Gweru Highway when a Pfochez bus was involved in a head-on collision with a commuter omnibus on March 3, is still lying uncollected at Kwekwe General Hospital.

Two months after the accident which claimed 31 lives, police have not yet identified the deceased and no one has come forward to claim the dismembered body which is now reportedly decomposing.
The deceased is also now subject of an investigation as police were hunting for a con artist who duped government of $429 in funeral assistance money.
National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday said: “I am not sure of the current status, but what I know is that there was a body that was not collected after suspected relatives who collected funeral assistance from government disappeared with the money.”
A con artist, who identified himself as Norbert Majoni, allegedly duped a police officer and processed a form which is used to facilitate the registration of deaths with the Register-General’s Office.
Constable Romilio allegedly unprocedurally processed the forms without viewing the alleged con artist’s identification particulars.
Investigations by NewsDay revealed that Majoni allegedly used an expired passport registered in the name of Shepard Paradza. On March 9, the suspect then approached the Kwekwe district administrator’s offices and claimed $429 for funeral assistance.

After collecting the money, he allegedly disappeared and police have since launched a manhunt for him.
A source at the mortuary told NewsDay the body of the deceased had turned green and could get worse if police do not move in to identify the deceased through fingerprints.
“I think unless this person is identified by name we are going to have him here for a long time because nobody has claimed the body,” said the source.
