ZIMBABWEANS will this week have an opportunity to provide input on how they want natural resources extracted from their communities to benefit them as the Parliament’s Mines and Energy Portfolio Committees conducts public hearings throughout the country.

The committee will be holding public hearings on the Minerals Exploration and Marketing Corporation Bill, and the Pan-African Minerals University of Science and Technology Bill.
Areas to be covered include mineral-rich areas such as Gwanda, Mutare, Zvishavane, Bindura, Hwange, Bulawayo, Bikita, Masvingo, Gweru, Kwekwe, Kadoma, Chinhoyi and Mutoko.
The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Women and Gender has also embarked on fact-finding missions to different areas of the country, where they will investigate the extent of early child marriages and gather oral evidence from affected areas.
Tomorrow, the Women and Gender Committee will gather oral evidence on issues of human trafficking from Kuwait victims.
Chairperson of the committee, Biata Nyamupinga, last week gave notice in the National Assembly that she would table a motion on the Kuwait issue so that the House can debate on it.

Other committees on fact-finding missions include the Local Government Portfolio Committee, which will visit Bulawayo, Hwange and Binga to assess the level of service delivery.
The Health and Child Care Portfolio Committee will also visit rural health centres in Karoi, Nkayi, Gokwe North, Plumtree, Mount Darwin, Murehwa, Makoni, Gutu, as well as in Harare, Bulawayo and Chitungwiza to find out how village health workers are treated.
Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor, John Mangudya is also expected to appear before the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Portfolio Committee on Thursday to speak on the impact of the national financial inclusion strategy on the SMEs sector as Zifa president, Phillip Chiyangwa will also appear before the Education, Sport, Arts and Culture Portfolio Committee to speak on challenges faced by his association.
