DeMbare announced yesterday they had finally parted ways with the coach following a string of poor results.

The announcement came after a series of emergency meetings involving the board headed by Bernard Marriot.

Silva’s fate was sealed on Monday when some members of the executive committee met the board, who demanded Silva’s head.

NewsDaySport exclusively reported on that meeting and its deliberations, where Lloyd Mutasa was picked as a replacement.

Only the absence of club president, Keni Mubaiwa delayed what had become inevitable, but yesterday, the relationship was officially ended.

Club secretary, Webster Chikengezha yesterday confirmed Silva’s sacking.

“We have parted company with coach Jorge Silva,” he said.

“Lloyd Mutasa has been elevated to lead the technical team and the club will make an announcement early next week on the assistants. On Sunday, in the match against FC Platinum, he will be assisted by Gift Muzadzi and Richard Chihoro.”

As Silva parts company with Dynamos, it has afforded Mutasa another opportunity to reclaim the Dynamos hot seat on a full time basis.

For now, Mutasa has been given five matches to prove his suitability for the post.

After those matches, the club executive will decide whether to hire the former DeMbare midfielder on a permanent basis or to look elsewhere.

The first of Mutasa’s five matches will be against PC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

Muzadzi and Chihoro will revert to their positions as goalkeepers’ coach and team manager, respectively, once Dynamos finalise on two assistant coaches to be appointed early next week.

It is understood former captain, Murape Murape and Clayton Munemo could bounce back to assist Mutasa.

Under Silva, Dynamos managed just five points from a possible 15 only beating Mutare City Rovers and earning two points from draws against Hwange and Triangle.

He had been given a target of nine points against those three teams, but he fell short.

Despite a commendable show, Dynamos lost 1-0 to Caps United before they drew blanks in a nil-all stalemate in Hwange last week and at that point the writing was on the wall for the Portuguese.

His relationship with his assistant coaches and players may have contributed to his early departure after he was involved in scuffles with Muzadzi and some team members.
