Rangwe died at Kwekwe Hospital after a short illness. He was 46.

Speaking at the burial, Zimbabwe Editors’ Forum (Zinef) chairperson, Njabulo Ncube described the late scribe as a fountain of knowledge.

“We, at Zinef, are saddened by the death of Rangwe. Despite his death, his spirit and work will remain embedded in training some of the country’s best journalists we now have in our newsrooms,” he said.

Community Newspapers Association of Zimbabwe secretary-general, Willie Mponda said the late journalist worked hard for the development of community newspapers in Zimbabwe.

“He was a foot soldier on issues pertaining to community newspapers. He was so passionate about community newspapers and he will be greatly missed,” he said.

Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (VMCZ) programmes officer, Faith Ndlovu described Rangwe’s death as a loss not only to Midlands province, but the whole country.

“He was a key member of VMCZ and his death is not a loss to VMCZ, but to the whole media fraternity,” she said.

The Times is a community newspaper under New Ziana’s Community Newspapers Publishers.

Rangwe worked for the same organisation as editor of its community newspapers in Matabeleland South and North, as well as Mashonaland West provinces.

At one time, he served as production manager at New Ziana’s printing company, Super Print in Gweru.
