The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), which will lead the delegation, said participants to the expo to be held from June 7 to 10 in Shanghai, have been drawn from various sectors including banking, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and mining.
“We are targeting 50 SMEs to be part of the delegation for the China-Africa SMEs Expo, and so far 25 companies have registered and we believe as the time came closer the number will increase,” ZNCC chief executive officer Takunda Mugaga said.
He said the expo was an opportunity for local SMEs to get international exposure.
Mugaga, however, said there was need for the SMEs to improve their skills on negotiating, as this was one of the limitations for them to strike good business deals.
The event is being co-organised by Reliconn, a consulting service based in Shanghai and Global Alliance of SMEs a multi-national NGO supporting SMEs worldwide with the support of Her Excellency the Commissioner for trade and industry of the African Union and the Shanghai City Government.
