In an interview with NewsDay, the film producer Marlon Murape said they need about $1 500 to conclude the film and they will only resume production of the 80-minute long film as soon as they secure the funds.

“We are stuck at the moment because of financial challenges to conclude the film, as we are self-funding the project. We finished shooting a longtime ago and we are now praying that we can secure money for the final touches,” he said.

“We have been getting assistance from well-wishers, while the actors have been forking out their money for transport and food, but things are tight, hence we have reached the decision to postpone its premiere to June.”

Murape said people must not rush to criticise, but appreciate efforts by upcoming filmmakers as they are self-funding the productions for the love of art.

Mapeto written by Lloyd Shumbayaonda is a film whose main character, Nigel Mapeto, played by Richard Matimba, popularly known as Uncle Ritchie on the showbiz scene is a dubious pastor who enjoys committing adultery and siphoning church funds, while Bhonzo plays the role of a rich businessman.
