In an interview with NewsDay on the sidelines of the commissioning of a financial services centre, the Green Zone, in Bulawayo on Wednesday, Old Mutual’s group chief executive officer Jonas Mushosho said they were planning to open another Green Zone in Gweru.

“We budget on a yearly basis. This year in terms of branding and refurbishments, because we are doing refurbishments of CABS branches, so it is out of that budget that we allocate money to CABS branches and we may allocate to the Green Zones,” Mushosho said.

“Our plan for this year is to do only one Green Zone in Gweru, so the Green Zones plus the CABS refurbishments should take us to $2,5 million in the current year, but it’s inclusive.”

Mushosho said the shop plus refurbishment of the CABS branch cost the group about $1 million.

The Bulawayo one-stop centre becomes the second for Old Mutual following the opening of the first Green Zone in Harare in 2013.

Mushosho said the Green Zone concept symbolised Old Mutual’s drive towards improved customer service, by providing the group’s products and services under one roof.

“The Green Zone concept is part of a strategy by Old Mutual Zimbabwe to bring closer cooperation and synergy among group companies,” he said.

Mushosho said the Green Zone would bring together comprehensive financial advice, investment and banking expertise of Old Mutual under one roof.

The services cover savings, investment, banking, insurance and property which will be offered by the group’s various units such as RM Insurance.

The branch offers a combined destination for all clients in the Old Mutual Group and a robust platform for transacting under one roof.

He said the Green Zone concept had gained local and international recognition, proving that Zimbabwe has what it takes to compete with the best in terms of delivering great experience to customers.

Mushosho said the work on the concept in Bulawayo started in June last year and was completed in March.
