The games will play out until April 4 with Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko scheduled to officiate at the opening ceremony on Sunday.

Local organising committee general manager, Abinel Mseva yesterday confirmed that everything was in place for the games to explode into life.

“The teams are arriving tomorrow (today), but today (yesterday) we are expecting general managers for the provinces and their accreditation teams,” he said.

The general managers are also expected to pay affiliation fees, which only Mashonaland West had paid by yesterday.

Affiliation fees are pegged at $50 per athlete and provinces are expected to take about 150 athletes and officials.

“We have not managed to get to where we want to be in terms of resource mobilisation, but we will be able to host the games,” Mseva said.

”Only Mashonaland West has paid affiliation fees and we are expecting the rest of the provinces to pay today (yesterday) when the general managers arrive.”

The Paralympic Games are held annually to identify talent for future national teams.

Last year, Midlands were the overall winners of the games, with Mashonaland West coming second, Masvingo in third place, Harare fourth, Matabeleland South fifth, Bulawayo in sixth position, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Matabeleland North completing the table, respectively.
