Dance Remedial is a reality television show that will be focusing on traditional dances from across the country, running under the theme To Preserve Our Culture Through Dance for The Next Generation.

The programme’s administrator, Dumoluhle Dube told NewsDay that the show is meant to unite dancers dotted across the country, while at the same time educating them on ways to preserve culture.

“We need to preserve our rich culture, culture is usually preserved through books, but our current generation does not read books that much, so we opted for a new way of preserving it through visuals, shows, and dance,” he said.

“Our reality television show called Dance Remedial Zimbabwe is open to anyone and we are calling for participants from across the country. We will soon be visiting other areas every month in search of talent as well as learning more about the different dances in the country.”

Dube said they are still negotiating with the national broadcaster, ZTV for the show to be recorded on DVDs before being screened on television, as they seek to document everything, adding that talks were at an advanced stage.

The launch was graced by Charity Nyathi, an official from the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and a number of high schools, among them, Amaveni Secondary School, who are expected to feature in the first episode, which is set to air next week.
