The debate on the setting up of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) comes to Harare this Wednesday as human rights activists, corporate and constitutional law experts, and members of the public converge for a public dialogue meeting at a local hotel.

Organised by Heal Zimbabwe Trust, which has been instrumental in pushing government to get the NPRC going, the dialogue will have presentations from War Veterans leader Christopher Mutsvangwa, Constitutional Law expert Lovemore Madhuku, Women’s rights advocate Netty Musanhu, business expert Shingi Munyeza, national healing advocate Moses Mzila Ndlovu and former commercial farmer Ben Freeth.

The Organ on National Healing and Reconciliation will also make a presentation at the event titled “Is Zimbabwe ready for an effective truth, justice, healing and reconciliation process?”.

The event follows other community engagements that Heal Zimbabwe has carried out countrywide, where Zimbabweans expressed their need for a healing and reconciliation process to deal with atrocities that occurred pre and post independence.

NewsDay will provide live updates of the event from 5pm to 8pm.
