This is not the first time for Charma Gal, born Magdeline Lesolebe-Chagwa, to grace an album launch event in Zimbabwe as she was among the star-studied line up of artistes when Jah Prayzah launched his album Kumbumura Mhute in 2014 at Harare International Conference Centre.

At Muridzo’s launch, Charma Gal is expected to share the stage with an array of local artistes cutting across genres among them dancehall singer Soul Jah Love, dendera ace Sulumani Chimbetu, Kireni Zulu, Peter Moyo, Leonard Zhakata and Progress Chipfumo.

Although repeated efforts to get a comment from Charma Gal by the time of going to print were fruitless, Muridzo told NewsDay that the Motswana singer had confirmed her visit.

“We will be having a special guest from Botswana, Charma Gal at our launch on Wednesday at Dandaro Inn and we urge our fans to come in their numbers for the event,” he said.

Muridzo was optimistic that his forthcoming album recorded at Maselo Studios with songs Ngarizhambe, Tinopekedzana, Haungatikoromotse, Dherira, Tande, Chomuduri, Chidhafu Dhunda, Ngaituruke, Zvipande, Tungamira Tiende, Kuzvarira Kamwe, Handirambe Mukoma, Unoendepi, Sarunde and Dhali Huya, will shake up the music industry.

“We are getting better by each day and many people now appreciate our music. I am confident that our second album will do well on the market as we want to prove that we have what it takes to be among the best groups in the country,” he said.

A source privy to Muridzo’s camp said the musician is set to record a duet with the Motswana singer.

“She (Charma Gal) might be coming as a guest artiste at the album launch, but facts are that she is coming for a collaboration with Andy whom she has described as a talented musician and expressed interest for a collaboration,” the source said.

Since the arrival of Muridzo and his Jeetaz Band on the local music scene, his brand of music had always been compared to that of Jah Prayzah, whom Charma Gal has done a collaboration with, on a track called Dali Wami.

While Jah Prayzah and his Third Generation Band brand themselves as soldiers, the Jeetaz Band have branded themselves as police officers. Muridzo has however, denied being a Jah Prayzah’s copycat claiming that the latter was his role model who inspired him to write songs.

“At first I wanted to sing dancehall music, but Jah advised me against it and I am happy his advice is yielding results for me,” he said.

The Budiriro-based musician has released several singles before his debut eight-track album titled Pakubuda Kwezuva which also featured Jah Prayzah on the title track.

Oscar Nembire, entertainment manager at Chipaz Promotions who are behind the launch, said everything is set for the event.

“Preparations for the launch are at an advanced stage with all artistes who are billed to perform at the event promising top-notch performances,” he said.
