Bernard Ngwarati pleaded guilty to charges of physical abuse when he appeared before Mbare Magistrate Gladys Moyo.

Allegations against Ngwarati were that on Monday at around midnight, his wife Rudo Nyoni (26) told him that they did not have any maize meal to cook sadza the next day.

The State alleged that upon hearing the news, Ngwarati become hostile and threatened to dessert Nyoni for a new life with another woman.

The court also heard that Nyoni then told Ngwarati that if he wanted to avoid his responsibilities he was free to leave their matrimonial home.

The state had also alleged that Ngwarati, in response, however, insisted on staying saying Nyoni was the one to leave instead.

The two allegedly then got into an argument resulting in Ngwarati assaulting Nyoni with fists and slapped all over her body.

Gerald Date appeared for the State.
