Prior to that match, they had not lost any of their preparatory matches, even brushing aside Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors 2-0.

Silva, though, says the match gave him and his players good insight.

He challenged them to work hard and score goals as they step up their pre-season preparations with a trip to Malawi over the weekend.

“These are pre-season matches, but it (the defeat to ZPC Kariba) was very important for us. It helps us see where we need to improve,” Silva said.

“They scored one goal and we didn’t score, so we need to improve in our scoring. We still have to work hard. We are going to Malawi and then Tanzania. These matches will help us in our preparations. They are big tests and we need to work harder.”

Silva also maintained he was still expecting two more players (strikers) of Brazilian origin to join the team.

He is optimistic that by the time the team returns from its trip to Malawi, the players would have arrived.

While there have been complications on the coming-in of the strikers from Brazil, the coach has refused to look at options on the local market, insisting that he wants to get talent from abroad.

Last week, DeMbare said they had lost contact with the players. With the team drawing a blank in their match against ZPC Kariba, Silva will be out to ensure that he brings in the players before the season starts.

He has since cast doubt on the future of Takesure Chinyama, whose contract with Dynamos ends in June.

The club also has Rodreck Mutuma, Farai Mupasiri, Kevin Bulaji and Richard Kawondera as some of the strikers in their ranks.

Dynamos are expected to leave for Malawi on Thursday, where they will play a friendly match against Big Bullets.

Zimbabwe Under-23 captain Wisdom Mutasa scored direct from a corner kick to condemn Silva to his first defeat since he took over at the Glamour Boys.

The match against ZPC Kariba gave the Portuguese a glimpse of the kind of competition he will come up against.

Mutasa was on the Dynamos wish list, but the former champions were beaten to his signature by the Kariba-based side.

After the trip to Malawi, Dynamos will take their preparations to Tanzania, where they have a match lined up against Young Africans.
