Siletokuhle Nare (37) is jointly charged with Dominic Tichaona (35), Jabulani Nyoni (33) and Wonder Mahuni (36) in a matter in which they allegedly robbed one Charity Mbanje using a pistol.

The four, who are being represented by Harare lawyer Nathaniel Chigoro, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutor Norman Tsarwe presented that sometime in October last year, the quartet hatched a plan to rob Mbanje, who was the treasurer of a women’s savings club.

It is alleged Nare knew the day when Mbanje would have collected all the contributions before sharing the money with other club members.

It is alleged Nare teamed up with her accomplices and hatched a plan, where she supplied them with police uniforms and a service pistol to be used in the armed robbery.

The State alleges on the night in question Tichaona, Nyoni and Mahuni went to Mbanje’s Mainway Meadows home with the intention of robbing her and upon arrival, they entered the house and held Mbanje hostage.

They then took away mobile phones and $980 in cash.

However, their luck ran out when the gun they had used in the commission of the offence was recovered at the scene and a Samsung Note 4 mobile notepad, which was stolen from Mbanje was also recovered from Nare.

It is alleged Nare led to the arrest of her accomplices, which resulted in the recovery of the other phones and the police uniforms that had been used to commit the robbery. The trial continues this Wednesday.
