Johannesburg — Kudakwashe Mahachi said he warned Mamelodi Sundowns about Chicken Inn and believes if they don’t concentrate they can lose the second leg of their Caf Champions League football tie.

Sundowns, who are cantering to the South African Premiership title, were brought back down to earth at the weekend by the Zimbabwean champions in the first leg of the preliminary round of Africa’s premier club competition in Bulawayo.

The two sides will meet again in Tshwane in two weeks’ time and Mahachi, who also played for the Zimbabwe champions, said Chicken Inn can spring another surprise if Pitso Mosimane’s side are not careful.

“I think Chicken Inn did well and Sundowns were on song and everyone was expecting Sundowns to win the game … so it was a surprising thing to see Chicken Inn beating Sundowns,” Mahachi told KickOff.com.

“But it’s football and if they work hard Chicken Inn can win, but I think Sundowns will win the second leg because it will be difficult because they will put everything into that game.”

Meanwhile, Mahachi will face his former club this weekend when Golden Arrows take on the Brazilians tomorrow, and he says he has no hard feelings and will treat the game like any other.

Arrows, who were the last team to beat Sundowns in the league back in September last year, ended a four-match winless streak following a 2-1 victory over Polokwane City to return to the top eight last week.

“I’m taking this game as a normal game and I don’t have grudges or anything,” Mahachi said.

“I’m prepared to play against my former club. Having said that, it’s going to be a nice game and we are looking forward to it as a team. We will push hard to try and win.

“We know they are doing well and they haven’t lost in the league in 19 games now, so we need to work hard to get the three points.”
