It is the State’s case that on January 29 this year at around 2pm, Nyamutamba was driving a Leyland Truck behind a Toyota Hilux kombi along Chaminuka Road in St Mary’s.

Upon approaching a speed hump close to Total Service Station, Nyamutamba overtook from the left side and in the process side swapped the kombi, injuring Tichaona Chifamba’s hand which was suspended through a window.

Chifamba’s hand was later amputated at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

The accused was allegedly driving an unroadworthy vehicle, overtook from the left side and failed to stop or control the vehicle.

Testifying in court, Chifamba said when the accident took place, Nyamutamba allegedly tried to flee, but the kombi crew caught up with him.

Nyamutamba has pleaded guilty and the matter is continuing in court.
