Skaiva performed some of his thrilling house tracks at the newly-opened Cloud 9 Pub and Restaurant from his latest album, Glory Diary, in which he partnered local chanter, Rakeem.

“This has been a good gig. It was my first this year and a first at this new joint.

“The fans came out in their numbers and sang along to almost every track I played. It was amazing,” he said.

“But I think our people can do more in supporting us. Fans should embrace our art more than they do foreigners and promoters should put more gigs out there for us and also consider us before looking at foreigners.”

Skaiva took to the turntables around 11pm and belted his hit tracks Sweet Jesus, Godobori, Day Dreamer and Jehovah much to the excitement of revellers.

The DJ has shared the stage with South African DJs Oskido, Tira, Fresh and Pepsi. He has become a household name both in the country and across the Zambezi. His song, Day Dreamer, off his latest album Glory Diary, stayed on YFM’s top charts for a consecutive three weeks. Sweet Jesus, which features on South Africa’s DJ QT’s album, Quantized 7, was a Best House Single contender at the South African Metro FM awards.

Skaiva has been making music for the last six years. He has shared the stage with South African and internationally recognised artistes such as Oskido, Tira, Pepsi, AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Black Coffee.
