THE seventh edition of the Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima) is on tonight at the Harare International Conference Centre and will be iced by a concert dubbed Well Done Bob, in honour of President Robert Mugabe under the theme Celebrating Leadership Through Music featuring Ghanaian reggae sensation Abubakar “Blakk Rasta” Ahmed.

Blakk Rasta will be supported by Jah Prayzah and Sulumani Chimbetu among other local musicians.
Blakk Rasta told a local radio station early in the week that he had always wished to meet Mugabe.

Stakes are high in the music categories with Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Killer T, Soul Jah Love and Sulumani Chimbetu racing to claim gold.
There will be stiff competition involving Winky D, Jah Prayzah and Killer T, who walked away empty handed after being nominated in three categories at the recent National Arts Merit Awards (Nama). He however, has an opportunity to redeem himself after he was nominated for the Best Male Artiste where he will square off with Jah Prayzah and Sulumani Chimbetu as well as Trevor Dongo and Michael Mahendere.
In the Album of the Year category this time, Killer T will be hoping that his album Ngoma Ndaimba, that was well-received by a cross generation of fans, will overthrow Jah Prayzah’s Jerusarema, which scooped the Outstanding Album award at the Nama. With Winky D missing in this category, Killer T stands a great chance to scoop the award.

Winky D and Killer T will then square off in the Best Dancehall Musician category that also features Tocky Vibes, Soul Jah Love and Seh Calaz.
Other categories include Best Producer and International Achiever which is going to South Africa-based Zimbabwean dancehall star Buffalo Souljah while the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to the late Jamaican reggae singer Bob Marley.
