ZC selectors will be using the tournament to finalise their squad that will represent the country at the World T20 in India next month.

Mashonaland Eagles, led by Chamu Chibhabha’s 58 runs from 46 balls, beat Matabeleland Tuskers by 6 wickets after having been asked to chase 152 for victory.

Across town at BAC, Hamilton Masakadza scored 88 runs and took two wickets as Mountaineers bowled out Mid West Rhinos for 133 to win by 52 runs.

His brothers Shingi and Wellington also shared three wickets between them.

The afternoon round of matches saw Victor Nyauchi, in his first T20 for Mountaineers, finish with figures of 4-20 in his four overs to restrict Eagles to 140, which the Manicaland franchise easily ran down with eight wickets in hand.

Mountaineers were again inspired by Hamilton Masakadza who hit an unbeaten 83, with Vusi Sibanda also batting well for his 40 runs before he fell victim to the combination of Chibhabha and bowler Cephas Zhuwawo.

Tuskers moved to BAC for their second match of the day where Brian Vitori scored an unbeaten 38 runs from only 10 balls in their two-wicket win over Rhinos who had posted 149 all out.

Vitori’s cameo was Tuskers’ second notable innings after opener Brian Chari had scored 53, his second fifty of the day after making 55 against Eagles in the morning.

The results saw Mountaineers finish the day undefeated in their two matches, while Rhinos are still searching for their first win.

Tuskers are up against Eagles in this morning before facing Mountaineers in the afternoon.
