Anderson Phiri denied the allegations when he appeared before magistrate Kudzai Hove, who remanded him to February 17 on $15 bail.

Phiri told the court that he had hooked up with the minor at a bar in Waterfalls and the two had negotiated for a one-night stand without the girl revealing her age.

He also told the court that he had seen the minor the previous day at the bar dancing and was, therefore, convinced she was a hooker.

The State, however, alleges that the two were in an intimate relationship and that the sexual intercourse was done under romantic conditions.

The State further alleges that on the day in question, the minor visited her friend’s boyfriend who lives in Stoneridge in the company of the friend.

On arrival, they found Phiri in the company of his friend.

It is alleged Phiri took advantage of the situation and proposed love to the minor and she accepted.

The four later spent the night in pairs, where Phiri had sexual intercourse five times with the minor with her consent.

However, the minor’s mother later noticed behaviour change in her daughter and questioned her, after which the girl spilled the beans.

A police report was then made, leading to Phiri’s arrest.

Yvonne Gurira appeared for the State.
