Premier Soccer League side Highlanders have confirmed their participation in a Zimbabwe National Paralympic Games fundraisng tournament scheduled for Matabeleland South between April 4 and 9.
Bosso chief executive officer, Ndumiso Gumede said the club would participate in the tournament, which forms part of their pre-season preparations.
“We have confirmed to the organisers that we will participate, but we have also requested that we play two matches as we want to take the reserve side as well,” he said.
Highlanders will be taking the senior team to Gwanda as part of their pre-season preparations.
Bosso are still under the guidance of Amini Soma-Phiri, as the long wait for Dutchman Elroy Akby to get his papers in order, continues.
Some of the players that are expected to play in the match include Ariel Sibanda, Njabulo Nyoni, Eric Mudzingwa, Felix Chindungwe, King Nadolo, Simon Munawa, Bruce Kangwa, Gabriel Nyoni and Godfrey Makaruse, among others.
Organising committee general manager, Abinel Mseva said they were grateful to Highlanders for agreeing to play and they were hopeful of raising the required funds.
“We would want them to assist to make people aware of the cause and contribute. We are trying to use the match, not only as a fundraiser, but as an awareness campaign as well.” he said. The province has set itself a target of raising $328 000 to successfully host the games.
Mseva said the main game at the weekend pits Highlanders and a Gwanda select side, but prior to that the Bosso reserve side would play Vumba while Gwanda United would take on ZRP Gwanda.
Mseva said they would be charging $2 for adults, $1 for children, and $4 for VIP, while parking inside the stadium perimeter has been pegged at $3.
