“The countdown for the first and largest of our shows has begun in earnest and preparations are now at an advanced stage. To date, market response has been encouraging, with the exhibition being over 75% booked. This is on par with the booking status at this time last year,” it said.

“Interest from international participants is encouraging, as enquiries have come from as far afield as Europe and Asia. Countries that have, thus far, confirmed participation include Cyprus, Japan, Malawi, Mozambique, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa and Zambia.”

ZITF revealed that local and international businesspeople are invited to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Zimbabwe’s premier platform for business exchange by registering to participate.

ZITF has been Zimbabwe’s shop window and the doorway to countless African business opportunities for close to six decades.

It said the thrust of the exhibition would be to encourage the different economic players to shift from reliance on natural resources to increased investment in manufacturing processes for the country to resuscitate and revitalise its industries as well as to create sustainable value-chains.

Last year’s exhibition which ran under the theme Simulating Trade: Seizing opportunities to accelerate growth, attracted more than 17 countries.

In terms of local participation, 55% of the exhibitors were from Harare, 37% from Bulawayo while 8% were from other cities and towns in Zimbabwe.

The countries which were represented at ZITF 2015 were Botswana, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Germany, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Cyprus, Namibia, Pakistan, Poland, South Africa, United States of America and Zambia.
