Chitungwiza magistrate Estere Chivasa granted bail to Reuben Chimedza on Monday this week. Chimedza had been in police custody since the matter was reported.

It is the State’s case that on January 10, 2016, the juvenile, aged 11, who resides in Chitungwiza was playing outside when the accused came and dragged her into his house.

Chimedza allegedly proceeded to the dining room where he removed his shorts and pants before sodomising the minor.

When complainant returned home, she narrated her ordeal to her grandmother. A report was made to the police and a medical report was compiled.

Another Grade 5 Chitungwiza juvenile told the court that Chimedza invited the complainant to his house when the two were playing.

When the complainant returned, she informed him that she could not play anymore because she was feeling tired and wanted to go home. The witness said this would happen every time that Chimedza would invite the complainant to his house.

“Sometime on a date I can’t remember, the complainant told me that she no longer wanted to go to Chimedza’s house because each time she would be instructed to lie on the sofa and remove panties before being sodomised,” the witness said.

However, Chimedza is denying all the charges being levelled against him.
