The PSL boss said they have factored in Zifa’s calendar of events for the 2016 season and that the league will roar into life after the Warriors match against Swaziland.

“I can confirm that the league kicks off on April 2. It’s after the Warriors’ match against Swaziland,” Ndebele said.

The top-flight league management is also giving room for pre-season tournaments such as the Bob 92 Cup and the ZNA Charities Shield tournaments, among others.

Apart from these commitments, there is also the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup, where Chicken Inn and Harare City are taking part.

The Warriors are set to play their fourth Group L match against Swaziland in Harare on March 28 and before that they will play the same opponents away from home.

Chicken Inn and Harare City flew out to South Africa and Madagascar respectively this week for the return legs of their journey in the African safari.

Chicken Inn won 1-0 in Bulawayo while Harare City edged AS Adema 3-2 in the first leg.

The knockout rounds of the Bob 92 Cup, the ZNA Army Charities Shield and the Independence Cup are expected to start before the season kicks off.

With Zifa having struck another multi-million dollar sponsorship deal that will see the country hosting a new competition called the Robert Mugabe Afro-Asia Intercontinental Cup every year for the next eight years, the PSL will also have to factor in the tournament which is likely to be held in July.

The Cosafa Cup is set for June and it will certainly disrupt the league programme.

The PSL’s big three – Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United – have made their intentions clear of winning the championship this term after they were beaten to it by Chicken Inn.

Dynamos are set take their pre-season preparations to Malawi and Tanzania, while Caps United, who have been to Mozambique, are also set to travel to South Africa as they ready for the start of the season.
