Bosso retained most of their players from last season, at the same time filling up slots opened up by those that left the club by promoting their juniors.

Tendai Ndlovu, Stanford Chavingira, Arnold Ndiweni, Ryan Mabhena and Benson Phiri were by yesterday still waiting to know their fate with the former league champions.

Highlanders technical adviser and goalkeepers’ mentor Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu confirmed that they still had four slots open.

“We have to make a decision on the players. We have to drop one of these and we would have made the decision by tomorrow (today),” he said.

Other players who did not make the cut, but have been training with the Bulawayo giants include Kelvin Sibanda, Mhleli Sibanda and former player Lawson Nkomo.

Some of the players in the squad include goalkeepers Ariel Sibanda, Njabulo Nyoni and Prosper Mathuthu, defenders Webster Chingodza, Bukhosi Ncube, Eric Mudzingwa, Felex Chindungwe and Julius Daudi.

Also part of the set-up are Tendai Ngulube, Peter Muduhwa, Simon Munawa, Douglas Sibanda, Rahman Kutsanzira, Bruce Kangwa, Godfrey Makaruse, Adrian Sila, Brian Banda, King Nadolo, Danmore Chakwana, Ralph Matema, Knox Mutizwa, Gabriel Nyoni and Prince Dube.

Zulu said they were ready for any challenge.

“There is not much work to be done. We are ready for any challenge. We have a team now and you saw how they performed in Gwanda,” he said.

Zulu said all the players were ready except for Chingodza, who is nursing an injury.

He said new Dutch coach, Elroy Akbay, was settling in well at the club.

“He is impressed with the way he was received by the team. He is settling well and started training with the players yesterday (Tuesday),” he said.

Akbay was unveiled last week by the club after he regularised his paperwork, but watched proceedings from the sidelines during the weekend’s four-team tournament.
