HIGHLANDERS players and fans are set to end weeks of waiting by unveiling coach Elroy Akbay at their club house this afternoon.

Chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede confirmed that the Dutch national would be arriving in the country from Johannesburg, South Africa.
“He will be unveiled tomorrow afternoon (today). He is arriving around midday from South Africa, after which he will be unveiled at the club house,” he said.

Akbay’s arrival was stalled by delays in the application of his work permit.
“We received his work permit last Wednesday and what is left is for us to present him with the Highlanders kit and he starts work,” Gumede said.
Bosso had been under Amini Soma-Phiri and Cosmas Zulu for their pre-season preparations.

Akbay is expected to form his own squad for the 2016 season as he seeks to break a decade’s run without winning the league title.
Highlanders last won the championship under Methembe Ndlovu in 2006.
A number of players are trying out at the club and these include Lawson Nkomo, who was at Bantu Rovers, Mhleli Sibanda, formerly with Harare City, and Kelvin Sibanda, formerly with Caps United.
On Sunday, the team played against Gwanda teams and won their first match 4-3 against Vumbachikwe before their 1-all draw against a select side from the same town.
Peter Muduhwa, Danmore Chakwana, Arnold Ndiweni and Raymond Tangai scored for the visiting Highlanders in the first match, while Nkomo scored in the second.
Meanwhile, organisers of the charity match featuring Highlanders and Gwanda teams at Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda have said that they managed to raise a significant amount.
The matches were organised to raise funds for the Zimbabwe National Paralympic Games, which will be held in the town next month.
Local organising committee general manager Abinel Mseva said: “People came in their numbers to support us. Highlanders is a big brand and everyone wants to be associated with the team. The money we raised will help in reaching our target.”
Mseva said they were still to hold more fundraising events in an effort to make the games successful.
He said the fundraising activities were meant to make people aware of the games.
