Zimsec director Esau Nhandara said in a statement yesterday heads of examination centres had started collecting the results from their respective regional offices.

A total of 310 917 candidates sat for the November exams and of that figure 156 418 were school candidates. Over 27 % of this category passed with Grade C or better in five subjects.

Private candidates who sat for the same examinations were 23 235 and 2 791 obtained Grade C or better in five subjects or more.

Nhandara said for the first time they were highlighting the percentage pass rate of all candidates who attained a Grade E or better.

“At this level candidates are considered to have passed and are given a certificate grade. Candidates who obtain grade C are considered to have passed the subject with a credit,” he said.
