Allegations against Musiiwa were that on the day in question, and in the morning, he arrived at his Hopley Farm home and upon entering the house, he assaulted his wife, Nolet Musvosva, with fists and claps.

The court heard Musiiwa told Musvosva that he was beating her because she had delayed in responding to his knock.

Asked why he had committed the offence, Musiiwa told the court that he had beaten Musvosva after finding their door secured with a bolt.

The court further heard Musiiwa went on to knock the door, but Musvosva did not open, forcing him to go and sleep at a friend’s place.

Musiiwa further told the court the following morning when he went back to his residence, he discovered the bolt had been removed and Musvosva opened the door without delay.

“When I knocked in the morning, she was quick to open the door, prompting me to wonder why she had ignored my knock the previous night.” Musiiwa said.

“That is when I beat her up.”

Fanuel Madanhire appeared for the State.
