THE military and other security apparatus have been roped in to assist police experts investigate the alleged break-in at Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s New Government Complex offices on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed that a high-powered security team has been set up to investigate the issue.
“A team of police experts are conducting investigations and they are now in progress. They are seriously working on the matter and they visited the scene. There are some even from the military and they will leave no stone unturned,” Charamba said.
She said the other case where cyanide was allegedly laced inside Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF offices in December 2014 was now being handled by the ruling party itself.
“It was referred back to relevant authorities at Zanu PF and you can confirm with Zanu PF on that one,” Charamba said.
Although the motive behind the break-in was yet to be established, observers have linked it to the bitter succession fights between a Zanu PF faction allegedly linked to Mnangagwa and an ambitious faction by the name Generation 40, which reportedly claims to sympathise with First Lady Grace Mugabe.
