Moyo said the programme, which is scheduled to run for four months between March and July this year, will culminate in the publication of a poetry anthology next year.

“We will be scouting for talent to identify potential poets and also put them in their respective positions. The main idea is to come up with a poetry anthology to be published early next year then have DVDs for the performers. We also want to make poets know that there is a difference in poems for publishing and also poems for performance,” he said.

Moyo said rural outposts have been shunned by most artistes but there is abundant untapped talent.

“We decided to take this programme countryside as we have seen that most artistes shun implementing programmes there not realising that people out there also have talent. We are also marketing cultural centre and this will keep the talented busy,” he said.

He added there were also extending the invitation to other poets who could like to be part of the initiative.

“We are not limiting numbers of participants, but making sure each participant adds value to the programme. Schools in Tsholotsho and in Kwekwe will get a chance to compete in a poetry competition which is well sponsored,” he said.

Moyo is set to lead the Kwekwe programme while Ndlovu is to lead the same programme in Tsholotsho.
