National police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday said they were still were waiting for forensic experts to conduct DNA tests on the other seven unidentified victims.

She identified the three as Enerst Bundu (60) of Burusami Village, Chief Masunda, Zvishavane, Taurai Gombarume (15) of Number 554 Mandava, Zvishavane, and Kudakwashe Gweto (26).

“Where possible, we are appealing to those who have missing relatives to proceed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare to assist in the identification of the remaining bodies. There is also need to carry out DNA tests with the help of relatives for comparison purposes,” Charamba said.

The 2015 festive season recorded 28 more deaths compared to the same period in 2014.

Statistics released on Monday showed that from December 15, 2015 to January 2, 2016, 130 people were killed in road traffic accidents compared to 102 recorded the previous year, with most of the accidents blamed on speeding.
