A HARARE man, David Edwards, has taken Kenya Airways to the High Court seeking an order to compel the airline to pay him over $15 000 compensation after his luggage allegedly went missing.

Edwards filed summons against the airline sometime in November last year under case number HC10545/15 after his alleged efforts to get his missing goods or the equivalent value of the lost property hit a snag.
Kenya Airways allegedly offered to pay Edwards a total of $400, but he rejected the gesture, arguing his goods were valued at $15 145.
The airline has since filed an appearance to defend notice and is prepared to challenge Edward’s claim in court if the parties fail to reach an amicable solution to the matter.
In his declaration, Edwards said the events leading to the lawsuit against the airline occurred on December 5 last year when he was on his way back from Guangzhou, China.
Edwards claims upon boarding a Kenya Airways plane in Guangzhou, he took with him goods he had bought from that country as he headed for Harare.

“Upon arrival, the plaintiff (Edwards) only managed to receive some of the goods, with the others going missing, which was due to negligence of Kenya Airways,” he said.
“The plaintiff reported the matter to the defendant (Kenya Airways), who acknowledged to pay only $400 for the goods which were bought for $15 145.”
Edwards further said despite demands, Kenya Airways had failed and/or refused to make payment in the claimed amount, which included a cellphone he bought from Guangzhou.
