Jimmy Nyakabao Moyosvii (65) and Jonah Karonzva (18), of house number 10103 Unit H in Seke, were remanded in custody to Tuesday next week when they appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Estere Chivasa.

Allegations against the two men are that on Friday last week, at around 7pm, Moyosvii visited the victim at her place of residence and requested her to accompany him to his house, to which the minor agreed.

Upon arrival, the victim and her boyfriend, Karonzva, got inside the house and the door was locked.

The court heard Karonzva asked the girl to sit on the bed and later forced her to sit between his legs after which he started fondling her breasts, but was disturbed by Moyosvii who knocked on the door.

Later, it is alleged, Moyosvii entered the room and sat next to the juvenile on the bed, while Karonzva went outside to prepare food.

The court heard Moyosvii then offered the juvenile a soft drink laced with alcohol and told her he missed his wife who was at his rural home. At some point, the girl is said to have sat on the floor, but Moyosvii lifted her and put her on the bed.

The State alleges, the girl tried to shout for help, but he gagged her mouth and had sexual intercourse with her once without her consent.

The court heard, later Karonzva entered the room and found the girl crying and she narrated to him what had transpired, but he allegedly ignored her and went on to prepare a bed for her on the floor, after which he also had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

The matter came to light the following day when the girl, upon returning home, told her sister what had happened and the matter was reported to the police, leading to the pair’s arrest.

Prosecutor Tendai Mukariri appeared for the State.
