It is the State’s case that on November 11 last year, the quartet connived and diverted 26 bags of maize for personal use.

They allegedly used a Freightliner Argosy truck to ferry the loot from the Grain Marketing Board depot in Chinhoyi.

The matter came out when the councillor failed to agree with the loaders over the fee.

The loaders of the truck wanted $120 as agreed, but the councillor gave them $50, prompting the truck driver to inform his boss about the heated disagreement, who in turn alerted the police.

The quartet was then arrested.

The case was adjourned to January 20 for trial.

Tinashe Serengwe prosecuted.
