“All procurement, retail, wholesale and production licences are required to supply all returns for the year 2015 as part of the application for the licence of 2016,” Zera said in a notice published yesterday.

“Applicants who fail to submit the full returns for 2015 will not have licences renewed.

“Renewal of applications should be done by 31 December 2015, failure of which operators risk being prosecuted.”

Zimbabwe imports all of its fuel mostly through Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa and failure to renew licences, particularly for importation, could result in fuel shortages.

The energy regulatory body issues the production, procurement, wholesale and retail licences and all licences are valid for a period of one year, after which Zera may renew the licence subject to satisfying periodic audits.
