Juul – a former coach and Zifa chairman – said Zimbabwe had talented players, who should be playing in lucrative European football leagues. He said he was impressed by the Highlanders forward, one of the 11 Soccer Stars of the Year finalists, when he saw him in action and immediately arranged trials for him in Sweden.

Mutizwa has the highest goal tally in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) with 14 goals in 17 starts and is also in the running for the Soccer Star of the Year gong, whose winner will be announced tomorrow.

Juul said he would arrange more trials for between 20 and 30 players in Sweden.

“I am a football person and I was impressed when I saw Mutizwa. I have already arranged trials for him in Sweden. Zimbabwe has talented players. They have flair and skill and most of them should be playing in European leagues. I will arrange more trials for about 20 to 30 players,” Juul said. He said if elected into office, he would ensure that former players become European scouts.

Juul will battle it out with Harare businessman Philip Chiyangwa, former Warriors defender, James Takavada and former PSL secretary-general, Leslie Gwindi for the Zifa presidency in Saturday elections.

The PSL Golden Boot winner is in South Africa, where he is trying his luck at Premiership outfit, Bidvest Wits.

According to his agent, Gibson Mahachi, the Bosso striker will be assessed over four days by the South African club’s technical team.

He is expected back in the country tomorrow just in time for the big clash between Highlanders and Dynamos in the semi-finals of the Easycall Cup at Barbourfields Stadium this weekend.

Two other South African clubs are also understood to be interested in him. The 21-year-old is a product of the Highlanders juniors and recently renewed his contract with the Bulawayo giants.

Mahachi said it was in the best interests of the player to commit to Highlanders. Sweden has also been a favourable place for Zimbabwean players after strikers Nyasha Mushekwi, Mathew Rusike and Tino Kadewere excelled in the top-flight league this season.
